What type of surfaces can I measure?

SizeUp supports straight-line measurement over any surface!
You can measure both vertically and horizontally. You can measure objects while holding your phone in either landscape or portrait position.

Does SizeUp work without an internet connection?

No, SizeUp utilizes a sophisticated, proprietary, patent-pending algorithm that runs on a Cloud Server. This allows SizeUp to provide fast calculations and low latency results in order to maximize the user experience. Your smartphone must have either a WiFi internet connection or a data plan (contact your cellular provider).

When using SizeUp, how can I get the most accurate measurement?

SizeUp’s measurement algorithm utilizes a smartphone’s internal sensors such as the Accelerometer and Gyroscope.

Adhering to the parameters below will ensure the most accurate measurement possible:

1. Find the most comfortable way for you to hold the phone during the measurement.

2. The device must be positioned idly on the object prior to starting the measurement.

3. The device must be fully stopped at the beginning and the end of the measurement.

4. Move your phone quickly and smoothly without stopping.

5. You may want to take a few practice measurements with a known object to get a feel for SizeUp.

Ok, I measured a surface and the result appeared on the screen, now what?

Now it is all up to you to decide. You can press the “Save Measurement” button to save that measurement for future reference. You will also be prompted to take a picture of the object you measured and name it for future reference, if you want. Or, you can press “Measure Again” and take a new measurement from the beginning. You can always access all of your saved measurements via the main menu under “My Measurements”.

Can I share my measurements result with a friend?

Sure! In the “My Measurements” screen you can find all your saved measurements.
Click Share and… that’s it! Now you can share it with anyone.

Can I mute the sound?

Yes. Click on the upper left menu button (viewable on the “Result” and “My Measurements” screens) and then toggle the sound on or off as you like.

I received a message instructing me to move my device faster, why? what should I do?

In order to ensure the most accurate measurement possible, SizeUp requires that the measurement be performed at a minimal speed. Simply repeat the measurement by moving your smartphone slightly quicker than before.

I received a message saying "Error, Please try again". What should I do?

In order to ensure the measurement is highly accurate, SizeUp limits certain parameters of the process. Simply repeat the measurement making sure to move your smartphone in a smooth straight line, without any “stops” in the middle. If you receive this message more than two times, please check your internet connection.

Sometimes I get a measurement that seems to be inaccurate.

SizeUp’s algorithm is designed for accuracy within ±2 centimeters. It may be beneficial to repeat the same measurement more than once in order to obtain a higher confidence in the measured result. If you continue to receive what you believe to be inaccurate readings, please contact our support team for assistance.

The “Stop” button is not always clickable. Why is that?

The “Stop” button becomes clickable only when the phone is resting on a surface at the end of the measurement.

When I first opened SizeUp, I viewed a tutorial explaining how to measure an object. How can I watch it again?

You can easily watch the tutorial again from the app by pressing the “Show Me” button, or from the Menu by selecting “Watch tutorial”.
